Thinking About a New Adventure?

Life’s too short to spend it under grey skies, sitting in long commutes, or wishing you had more daylight to enjoy the things you love. Imagine finishing work and still having hours of sunshine left to explore, relax, or spend time with friends.

If you’ve dreamed of living somewhere that offers a gentler pace, spectacular scenery, and a genuine sense of community, New Zealand could be your next chapter. Here, you’ll find friendly faces, bright days, and a lifestyle that gives you the freedom to slow down, spend more time outdoors, and focus on what truly matters — your wellbeing, your family, and your future.

John Miller, Co-Founder

Is Foot Mechanics in NZ the Next Step in Your Career?

My name is John Miller, I lead Foot Mechanics, a nationwide team of Podiatrists in New Zealand who share a simple purpose — to restore joy in people’s lives through better movement.
We’re focused on helping podiatrists grow their careers through leadership, mentoring, and advanced practice opportunities. We currently have a roles open, but more broadly, we’re building a culture where clinicians can have real influence in shaping the future of podiatry.
I’d love to learn a bit about what matters most to you in your work right now and see if what we’re building at Foot Mechanics could support your next step.
Over the last 29 years we have worked with many Podiatrists from the UK who made the move to NZ to advance their careers before returning home, and some who have stayed on and made NZ their home.

Growing Your Career With Foot Mechanics

“I’ve always had a passion for educating patients about their foot health, but at Foot Mechanics that passion has grown to include mentoring colleagues and collaborating across the wider healthcare system. The company’s structure — from knowledge collective meetings to clinical advisory groups and service lead opportunities — has allowed me to develop genuine leadership skills.

The support from management is also outstanding. Input from clinicians is actively sought and genuinely valued when shaping the future direction of the business. It’s refreshing to be part of a team where decisions are made with, not just for, podiatrists.

Foot Mechanics has helped me become a more confident and capable clinician, with the time and space to enjoy life outside of work too.

If you’d like to learn more about what a career with Foot Mechanics could look like for you, come and meet John Miller while he’s in the UK — it could be the start of your next great chapter.”

Building a Meaningful Career with Foot Mechanics

“Before joining Foot Mechanics, I wanted more than just a job — I wanted to learn from experienced clinicians and specialise in musculoskeletal (MSK) podiatry, an area that can be difficult to grow in within small or isolated clinics. I was also looking for stability — a role where I could focus on patient care rather than contract work, rest home visits, or mobile clinics.

When I discovered Foot Mechanics, what stood out most was the support system. From day one, I had access to experienced clinicians who were willing to share their knowledge and help me refine my craft. For anyone graduating from university, I can’t recommend enough the value of joining a larger, connected team. Those first few years set the foundation for your entire career, and Foot Mechanics provides the mentoring, structure, and environment to get it right.

Since joining, my experience has gone far beyond what I expected. Under the guidance of our Clinical Director, my understanding of MSK podiatry has deepened, transforming how I assess, treat, and think about patient care. I now also have the privilege of mentoring others as a Service Lead — a role that allows me to keep learning every day, not only from senior clinicians but also from new graduates who bring fresh ideas.

Today, I feel both clinically and professionally supported. My skills have advanced across multiple fields, and I’m proud to be part of a group that leads the industry in clinical excellence and patient care. The systems and support behind the scenes free me to focus on what really matters — helping patients and growing as a practitioner.”

Your Next Step

I will be travelling across the UK during November 2025 and would love to connect with Podiatrists who are curious about what life and work are like in New Zealand.

Whether you’re considering a move now or just want to understand what’s involved, I am happy to share insights about:

  • Working as a podiatrist in New Zealand — scope, lifestyle, and support.

  • The Foot Mechanics team and how we help podiatrists grow professionally.

  • What relocation looks like — from visas to settling in.

I am visiting several cities and will host informal catch-ups or small group sessions, depending on local interest. If you’d like to meet, select one of the locations below for more details.

I look forward to meeting you,

John Miller
